Canoe and Kayak Routes

Merrill has the Wisconsin River and Prairie River that offer great spots to put your canoe, kayak, or tube in the water for anything from a couple of hours to a few hours.

Fat Tire/Mountain Bike Trails

Grab your fat tire or mountain bike and spend a weekend riding Merrill Area trails.

Fishing

Fishing is very popular in the Merrill Area, with its many lakes and the two rivers. The Prairie River is a Class "A" Trout stream. For a few suggested places visit the City of Merrill's website.

Horseback Riding

Take your horse on a fun adventure in the Northwoods with scenic lake views. You can explore up to 20 miles of horseback riding trails in the Underdown Recreation Area. Visit the Lincoln County website for more information.

Cross-Country Skiing/Snowshoeing

Council Grounds has many trails available to cross-country skiers, but there are also many trails in and around Merrill, such as the Underdown.

Otter Lake Nature Trail

Experience the peace and quiet of nature as you hike around a beautiful lake that doesn't allow motorized boats, keeping you as in tune with nature as possible.
