Merrill, WI -- It’s not too late to get your Merrill Ice Shanty registered for the 1st annual Northwoods Ice Shanty Pageant! The deadline has been extended to February 19. You may not think your Shanty is anything special, but WE disagree. The beauty of a Shanty is in the eye of the beholder so all Merrill Shanty’s will do! Is your Shanty rustic or new? Is it whimsical or nostalgic; a family Shanty heirloom or a rummage sale find? Is it colorful or has a theme all its own; a stand alone beauty, a plain Jane or a home away from home? Maybe it’s heated or maybe it’s cold; furnished or bare to the bone. No matter the size, shape or condition your Shanty is special – it’s your ice fishing home! |

MERRILL, WI – The Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce announced today they will be hosting a Mayoral Candidate’s Forum on Wednesday, February 10. The forum will be held in the Merrill High School auditorium from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Doors will open to the public at 5:45 p.m. There are three candidates running for the mayoral position currently held by Doug Williams who announced in November that he would not seek re-election. Merrill voters will narrow the field of candidates three to two with a spring primary election on February 16. The two candidates with the most votes will be placed on the ballot for the spring general election in April. The three candidates that are vying for Mayor are: Patsy Woller, Ray Bloomer and William Bialecki. |
